Mirror websites

What is a mirror website?

A mirror website is an identical copy of a website. Mirror websites serve three purposes:

  • Speed - By placing mirror websites in different countries, visitors can have faster access through a mirror nearer to them
  • Redundancy - When one of the mirror websites is down, visitors can still use the other mirror websites
  • Load balancing - Popuplar websites with many visitors use a lot of server 'load', by offering multiple websites this load can be distributed over multiple servers

The MDBG Chinese-English dictionary features multiple mirror websites world wide to allow fast access anywhere in the world.

How to use a mirror website?

To use a mirror website, click the link of the mirror nearest to you below. After choosing a mirror, please update your bookmarks! If you do not update your bookmarks, your bookmark will bring you back to the wrong mirror website.

Please note: All US mirrors are in the same location, US based users can pick any one of these. You might be automatically redirected between mirrors if one of the mirrors is too busy, this is a transparent process and will not be noticable normally.

If your favorite mirror doesn't seem to work at a certain moment, please try using one of the other mirrors. In this way you can always use this website even during maintenance of one of the servers.
